Welcome to the PBWiki for the Colorado School Social Work Committee (CSSWC)

The CSSWC has long sought to create a simple and effective way for School Social Workers and friends of School Social Work across Colorado and beyond to stay connected, share resources, and keep each other informed of current opportunities and challenges.  For a certain demographic of us, the world of Wiki-ism is quite new and somewhat threatening.  For another demographic it is as common as, well, I guess I am of the first demographic.  In any case, here  is our Wiki.

Please feel free to join the process of evolving an online resource to empower School Social Work, School Social Workers, and the school communities we serve.

Thank you.

Attention School Social Workers:  Task Force Forming

The CSSWC has created a Task Force charged with the mission of empowering Colorado School Social Workers with resource that will allow us to effectively articulate and advocate for the value of School Social Work.  As school districts are increasingly called upon to empirically demonstrate their dedication of all resources toward accounting for student achievement, School Social Workers will be challenged to prove our worth.

Right now there are two major initiatives in public education that mesh perfectly with our profession's historical values and process of work.  Those initiatives are Positive Behavior Supports and Response to Intervention.  As School Social Workers we are perfectly trained to create and maintain effective and inclusive systems of intervention and service delivery based on a problem-solving model.  At least part of the mission of the Task Force will be to ensure that Colorado School Social Workers are prepared to effectively communicate the value that we can contribute to this process as well as to guarantee that we can evaluate our work and demonstrate the power of our profession.

Julie Ann Laser Haddow, M.S.W., Ph.D. (jhaddow@du.edu) and Matt Teegarden, L.C.S.W. (mgteegarden@comcast.net) will  be calling the Task Force together in the next few weeks.  Please look for more information regarding this opportunity and feel free to contact either Matt or Julie if you are interested in joining the Task Force.

Trying to Make the Wiki Real:

As we try to figure out how we can use 21st Century technology to better support each other, I'd like to try to get some feedback.

As a relative caveman in a computer world, I discovered Zoomerang.com last year sometime.  Since then I have been using this service to gather feedback for IEPs, FBAs, and general progress reports.  Here is a sample of what I send out to teachers:  www.zoomerang.com/survey.zgi?p=WEB226HMTPEVVX.  I attach the link to Zoomerang with information from the attached e-mail template.  Zoomerang E-Mail Template 2.doc.  I use the attached document for parent permission.  AHS Zoomerang Consent Form.doc.  From that information I create feedback like the following document.  CSSWC Sample AHS Zoomerang Summary Template.doc.

I'd appreciate any thoughts or comments.

Thanks--Matt Teegarden, L.C.S.W.
